Experience our unique sporting facility - for a corporate, or for a social day, while sampling our superb wines and inhaling the tranquility that the surrounding mountains exhale.

As an ode to the role terroir plays in wine making and the fine old game of cricket, we build the Welbedacht Cricket Oval on our farm and nestled it into the same terroir as the vineyards that produce our wine ‘Cricket Pitch’.

This amazing blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc reminds one of how nature affects wine making and influences the game. Terroir determines the unique character of each cultivar that is carefully blended into this wine.

Similarly the terroir of the cricket pitch – facets such as grass growth, moisture and wind – determines how each team approach the contest. Spin or fast bowling, field settings and strategy are pitched against the batsmen deciding which shots they use in their attempt to accumulate runs.

We invite you to visit us at Welbedacht farm in the beautiful Wellington area, to experience for yourself the age old traditions of wine making and cricket. Celebrate these traditions by playing the Welbedacht Cricket Oval and enjoying our fine wines.
